I’m João and I’ve always been passionate about food. When I was told, at the age of 40, that I was gluten intolerant I became rather sad… for a while. But then I decided that I had to find a way to eat all things I really enjoyed. Since it was difficult to eat them in restaurants I decided to start cooking them myself.
The dishes that I love are really a mix of influences from the countries in the Mediterranean basin. I adore the mix between fresh sea food and the lovely vegetables that you can only find in this part of the globe.
There is nothing like fresh charcoal grilled fish in Portugal, the artichokes or the piquillo peppers in Spain, the octopus from Greece, the tomatoes from Sicily or the olives from Morocco.
I love cooking for our friends that come to visit and share the lovely eating moments with us around our table, followed by the long conversations in the kitchen.

Hi, I am Ângela a consultant living in Madrid. I like to taste food and make cookbooks inspired in Joäo’s cookings. Favorite flavours: chocolate, cherry and macadamia nut. Favorite dish: ossobuco. Favorite drink: dry white wine (specially Portuguese from Douro or Italian from Sicily).
Our daughter Sofia is also passionate about food and she loves the experience of tasting new food, specially ice cream and any kind of tasty cheese.
